Club Sports at Bloomsburg
Passion. Teamwork. Excellence.
At Commonwealth University - Bloomsburg, our Club Sports program offers students the perfect blend of competition, camaraderie, and leadership. Club Sports are student-run organizations that allow you to continue playing the sports you love, learn new ones, and compete against other universities while balancing your academic commitments. Depending on the club, its focus may be recreational, instructional, competitive, or a combination of these types of activities. Whether you're aiming for the thrill of competition or the joy of participation, our diverse range of clubs has something for everyone!
Club Sports bridge the gap between intramural and intercollegiate athletics by providing competition at specialized levels, participation in local, regional and national tournaments, as well as opportunities to practice. Club Sports are supported by the Department of Campus Recreation and are under the jurisdiction of the Student Government Association at each campus.

The Bloomsburg University Equestrian Team (BUET) was founded in 1994 as a way for horse-loving students to come together and ride/compete regardless of experience or ability level. Some of our team members have never ridden before, and some have been riding for most of their lives. Through BUET, members have the opportunity to regularly ride and interact with horses, and even compete against other colleges if they choose to do so. We also encourage all of our team members to participate in fun team events and activities!

This is a student run organization/club that is taken very seriously by the past and present members of the team. This club has competed at the highest levels of division 2 men's rugby. The club has made four straight national tournament appearances to include placing third in the country at the 2018 national tournament. The team requires members to be dedicated and work hard at practices and or games and members are to attend every practice possible. Lastly, new players are not expected to have any background or prior knowledge about the game of rugby. Very few current and past players have had any experience playing rugby so inexperience is welcomed.

Our team began in 1995, and over twenty years later, we continue to expand and grow with every season. We are constantly encouraging women at Bloomsburg University to join this sport which we have all come to know and love. Women's rugby is a highly competitive sport. We take pride in all of our accomplishments, no matter how big or small and we are always up for a new challenge.
In the past few years we have been highly successful. We recently just took home our fourth consecutive Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference championship. As well as attending Rugby 7's National Championship in Glendale Colorado and the Collegiate Rugby Championships at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
We love welcoming new members onto our team! No previous rugby experience is necessary to join. Most of the girls on the team had no previous experience before coming to play for us. Rugby contains elements from both soccer and football, but is entirely its own sport and there are always new things to learn about it. As long as you are a good team player and are willing to keep an open mind, this may be the sport for you!

The Bloomsburg Women's Club Soccer team is a group of student-athletes who seek to play competitive soccer, competing against programs at Division I, II, and III levels. Furthermore, we want to build positive relationships through teamwork, training, and good sportsmanship. Club soccer ranks between a recreational soccer league (e.g. IM) but much more relaxed when compared to a varsity soccer program. The club soccer program is a great alternative for student-athletes who seek to maintain their skills in a challenging and fun environment. If you have any questions, please email us at bloomsburguwcs@gmail.com.
You can learn more about the women's club soccer team during the activities fair (Fall & Spring) or email us (bloomsburguwcs@gmail.com). Once we generate a list of interested players, we schedule a welcome meeting during the first couple of weeks of each semester. This meeting provides information regarding the team as well as allows for a question/answer session. All interested parties will be emailed the location and time of the meeting.

Club softball is an opportunity to play fastpitch softball at a competitive level while having a more relaxed schedule. Prior softball experience is recommended, but not required! We have two teams, the travel team and the practice team. Tryouts are only held in the fall, but the practice team is open to join year-round. Both teams are a great way to stay active and meet new people! The travel team will play in about 15 games a school year, home and away, and the practice team has the opportunity to attend practices 2-3 times a week. We practice at the softball fields on upper campus, behind blue lot, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 pm. Outside of softball, we participate in 2-3 fundraising events for the club every year. We try and have team bonding events often, and we also volunteer as a team for the BIG Event in April.
To join club softball, please fill out the liability forms on this page and reach out to the club for more details. Any questions, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the executive board or team.

The Bloomsburg Women's Wrestling Club serves to give female students interested in the sport of wrestling an outlet to participate in and learn about the sport. The world of female wrestling is expanding, and Bloomsburg is in need of a women's wrestling club to build up women interested in the sport. In order to reach the full potential of women's wrestling at CU Bloomsburg, it is necessary to split from the existing wrestling club, and create an all-female club. We will host wrestling practices and bonding activities for club members. Tournaments will be advertised, but club members must sign up individually. Our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for female students interested in the sport of wrestling.
