Transfer Credit Tools
Want a preview of how your previous coursework might transfer to CU? Use these tools to explore how your courses may transfer to CU, even before you apply!
Transfer Credit Criteria
Commonwealth University values the progress you’ve already made toward your degree. Credits earned at a two-year or four-year institution will typically transfer, provided they meet the following criteria:
- The college or university where you earned the credit is a CHEA-accredited institution.
- You earned a grade of “D-” or higher in the course.
Please note: Some majors at CU may require a minimum grade of “C” or higher to count toward specific program requirements. If you’ve earned a grade of “D-,” “D,” or “C-,” you may still receive credit, but in some cases you may need to retake the course at CU to meet program standards.
Credit for Prior Learning
Your experience matters in and out of the classroom. If you have life or military experience, certificates, or other possible credits earned, we will work with our Workforce Development Office to review any credit for prior learning. This can help you save time and money while advancing toward your degree.
No matter where you’re transferring from, Commonwealth University offers generous transfer scholarships designed to make completing your degree more affordable and accessible. We also encourage students to explore additional scholarship opportunities from outside organizations to maximize their financial support.
