The curriculum of the Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Business Administration program, offered by Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield via an online instruction method, is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in business or to serve as a foundation for further study in a bachelor's degree program. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, students develop basic business acumen and professional skills needed in today's business environment.

Business

Baccalaureate degree students may wish to enhance their major program of study with knowledge of the basic principles of business. A minor in Business will provide these students with a general overview of fundamental business concepts and terminology and an introduction to professional business skills. This knowledge may be applied to careers in industry, government or professional occupations, as well as to entrepreneurial endeavors.

Economics

Baccalaureate degree students may wish to enhance their major program of study with knowledge of basic and advanced courses in economics through our Economics minor.

Entrepreneurial Innovation

For students in a major other than business (or for community members) who are considering launching their own business, we offer an Entrepreneurial Innovation minor.

Business Administration BSBA Core

Students completing the BSBA core will be able to:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts in core functions of business.
2. Demonstrate critical thinking and integrated problem solving in a global market.
3. Write an original business report with appropriate content and structure.
4. Communicate effectively in interpersonal (non-written) settings.
5. Respond appropriately to ethical dilemmas in business using ethical schools of thought.
6. Demonstrate professional deportment and conduct by appropriate conduct in business and business/social settings.

Finance

Students completing the BSBA Finance concentration will be able to:

1. Achieve a firm understanding of financial concepts, models, theories in investments, corporate financial management, and capital markets.
2. Enhance the problem-solving and empirical application skills of financial analysis tools and techniques in Finance.
3. Discuss the global financial environment and the effect of global influences on the financial decision-making process.

Information Technology and Analytics

Upon graduation, students will be able to:

1. Examine the procedural design and development of business applications.
2. Appraise IT and analytics trends, tools, and challenges.
3. Apply emerging technologies and methods to manage and exploit the value of structures and unstructured data.
4. Analyze strategic innovation in the interface between websites and databases.
5. Examine analytics techniques to transform data into insights.
6. Demonstrate project management techniques and applications for information systems, healthcare, finance and business projects.

Marketing

Students who complete the program will be able to:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of marketing.
2. Explain the process of researching and identifying customer needs, understanding the customer buying behavior and process.
3. Explain the key functions of the sales management process including the recruitment, selection, training, motivation, evaluation and compensation of the sales force.
4. Apply quantitative marketing techniques.
5. Identify the elements of international marketing.
6. Ability to solve and communicate solutions to applied marketing problems.

Personal Financial Planning

Students who complete the program will be able to:

1. Achieve a firm understanding of basic components of personal financial planning - personal investment, retirement planning, risk management and insurance, estate planning, personal taxation etc.
2. Enhance the skills to develop customized financial plans tailored to personalized needs to help achieve financial independence and security.
3. Gain the knowledge and skills needed to acquire relevant certification(s) and pursue careers in personal financial planning - personal taxation, risk management and insurance, personal investment, retirement planning, and estate planning.

Associate in Science in Business Administration

Students completing the Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Business Administration program will be able to:
