Employer of the Month: Bellefonte Area School District

Tracy Long, Director of Human Resources for the Bellefonte Area School District became an employer partner with Commonwealth University for the opportunity to connect with future educators with a reputation for being prepared and well qualified.

“Events like this help us meet students preparing to enter the profession [and] I know firsthand that Commonwealth University produces high-quality graduates who are well prepared for the classroom.”

Long says that she especially appreciates how CU students often take the initiative to research Bellefonte Area School District and approach their table with specific questions about the district or its programs. That level of preparation, according to Long, shows a genuine interest and level of professionalism that leads to more meaningful conversations about potential career opportunities, certification requirements, and the day-to-day realities of working in education.

“I appreciate when students come prepared and demonstrate a clear passion for working in education, said Long. “Moments like that make the job fair especially rewarding because you can see the dedication and motivation that these future educators bring to the profession.”

Long also commented on the way in which CU staff created a welcoming environment and saw the event as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the next generation of teaching professionals.

“By participating, alumni and employer partners can help graduating students better understand career pathways, develop professional confidence, and make informed decisions about their futures,” said Long. “Even a small amount of time can make a lasting difference for the students you meet and for the future of the profession.”
