Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Mansfield

At Mansfield, we believe a complete college education includes active involvement with communities outside the walls of our classrooms and an exploration of new relationships within our campus community. We're committed to forging relationships across and through lines of difference.

We believe diversity is at the heart of holistic educational experiences and within our campus community, we understand to grow as a person requires broadening perspectives and developing new insights.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging promotes and advocates for diversity, multicultural and global education, and inclusivity at Mansfield. These goals are accomplished through programs and events that support and educate our campus community on issues relating to cultural sensitivity, social awareness, and global information.

The Dr. Margaret Launius Gender Equity Center supports, empowers, and enlightens all students about issues of sex, gender, sexual violence, personal safety and health, social justice and educational equity. Our programs and events are designed to foster open discussion and intellectual exchange about these and other issues, to promote an overall sense of well-being, and to create a safe campus climate for all.

Mansfield's Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), which functions in collaboration with the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Belonging, creates intercultural programs and provides educational workshops and outreach programs that foster all areas of diversity and multicultural understanding.

The OMA also plans the commemoration of holidays including Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The OMA, located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Center (MLKC), serves as an educational safe zone for individuals of all backgrounds, nationalities, abilities, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, religions, and social identities. The MLKC is dedicated to helping students cope with the challenges associated with succeeding and graduating from Mansfield. The primary task of the MLKC is to advance and celebrate the diversity of our campus community and to advocate for the needs of its students.
