In recognition of Black and Women’s History Months, the Center for Access and Engagement and the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging sponsored a trip to Philadelphia to view a performance by the Alvin Ailey Dance Company.

The Alvin Ailey Dance Company is a historic organization that uses dance and expressive traditions as a means of sharing the Black experience in America with audiences across the world.

This co-curricular learning opportunity, which took place on Saturday, Feb. 28, provided CU students an opportunity to see a historic dance troupe first-hand and engage in meaningful and intentional conversations about the intersection of dance and expressive traditions and academic disciplines such as history, black studies, women studies, theology, musicology and sociology.
