Michelle Kiec serves as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, where she provides strategic academic leadership for the multi campus public institution. In this role, she oversees all academic units and works collaboratively with faculty and staff to advance student success, innovative teaching and learning models, and academic quality.
Dr. Kiec brings more than two decades of experience in higher education leadership, teaching, and accreditation. Prior to joining Commonwealth University in 2024, she served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Oklahoma City University and held senior academic leadership roles at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, including Interim Vice Provost, Dean, and Associate Dean. Her work has focused on academic program development and review, alternative course delivery modalities, international partnerships, workforce aligned credentials, and accelerated degree pathways.
A recognized leader in curriculum innovation and assessment, Dr. Kiec has led successful efforts to streamline academic offerings, expand online and hybrid learning, implement shared course models, and strengthen retention and graduation outcomes. She is deeply committed to shared governance, faculty collaboration, and data informed decision making.
Dr. Kiec earned a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University and holds bachelor’s degrees in music performance and German from the University at Buffalo. She is also an accomplished musician and scholar who remains actively engaged in professional service and accreditation work at the national level.
