Students Attend Eastern Psychological Association Research Meeting

In March, nearly 70 psychology students from Commonwealth University's Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield campuses attended the Annual Research Meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) in Philadelphia. Faculty going on the trip included Karri Verno, Jamie Foor, and Mary Jo Larcom. 

Bloomsburg students Breanna Koslowski (pictured), Avery Priest, and Dr. Jennifer Johnson presented a poster titled “Perceived Meditation Barriers in People with and without ADHD Symptoms.” Their research and presentation were funded through a curricular enhancement grant from the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities.  

Bloomsburg students Avery Priester (pictured), Breanna Koslowski, and Dr. Jennifer Johnson presented a poster titled “Working Memory in Relation to Attention Deficits and Anxiety in Young Adults.” Their research and presentation were funded through a curricular enhancement grant from College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. 

Mansfield students Taylor Werts, Breanna Gardener, Dr. Karri Verno, Kate Rowen, and Leanna Flynn (all pictured) presented a poster titled “Psychological Cyberchondria and the Influence of Social Media.”

Mansfield students Grace Bakewell (pictured), Danny Barker (pictured), Morgan Brian, Jacey O’Donnell (pictured), Alyssa Zanghi-Miller, and Dr. Karri Verno presented a poster titled “The Effect of Brief Social Media Use on Working Memory.” 

Lock Haven presentations included:

• Paper presentation titled “Effects of Childhood Religious Experiences and Caregiving Relationships on Adult Well-Being” – Rhoda Witmer (University of South Carolina), Dr. Tara Mitchell (Lock Haven), and Dr. Jamie Foor (Lock Haven)
• Paper presentation titled “Analysis of the PERMA Scale of Well-Being with an Understudied Population” – Dr. Jamie Foor (Lock Haven), Rhoda Witmer (University of South Carolina), and Dr. Tara Mitchell (Lock Haven)
