DECATUR, Ala. - Students Myken Barnes and Beaux Rohrbaugh represented Commonwealth University-Mansfield at the 2025 Major League Fishing (MLF) College National Championship held at Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Ala. on April 9-11.

MLF Abu Garcia College Fishing presented by YETI allows student-athletes at colleges, universities and community colleges the opportunity to compete against their peers, earn prizes and gain valuable knowledge and experience competing on the same waters as some of the best professional anglers in the sport. Teams are made up of two anglers, who represent their school and compete in tournaments for cash and prizes.

The Mansfield Bass Fishing team is open to all CU-Mansfield students.

The duo brought-in a two-day total weight of bass at 26 pounds and one ounce to finish 68th out of 135 teams from across the country. Mansfield was the only Pennsylvania team to compete at the national tournament.

“Beaux and Myken worked very hard to raise the necessary funds to make the trip to Alabama and fish in the National Championships,” explained Bass Team advisor John Szentesy. “They spend countless hours on the water, studying maps, and getting as much information as they could prior to their tournaments. Their hard work paid off.”

Barnes is a freshman from Montoursville, Pa. majoring in biology with a concentration in fisheries. Rohrbaugh is a Harrisburg, Pa. native and a senior in the biology: fisheries program.
