The Japanese Animation Society (JAS) at Lock Haven University took a field trip to the Blair County Convention Center in Altoona for Setsucon – a convention based around a shared interest in pop-culture out of East Asia, primarily Japan.
This is a reoccurring event for the JAS as they have been attending together since 2023, with more members joining the trip every year.
Members of the Japanese Animation Society participate in many facets enjoyed by the larger community surrounding Japanese animation such as; cosplay, attending educational panels, reading graphic novels, constructing Gunpla model kits, playing on Japanese arcade machines and more.
With a mission to spread joy to the Lock Haven student base, help deepen media literacy, expand media tastes and take trips to that like Setsucon – the Japaneses Animation Society was named “Student Organization Of The Year” for 2025 under the student presidency of Ean Briggs.
