CU-Lock Haven’s Alpha Chi Rho (AXP) fraternity honored the victims of September 11 by participating in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Challenge on September 11, 2025. The climb represented the 110 stories - roughly 2,200 steps - of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers.

The brothers completed the climb on the steps near Charlotte Smith Field at the Lock Haven campus, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives that day.

James Richtschelt, a junior at Lock Haven and AXP president, shared that he valued supporting both troops and first responders through events like this. “It means a lot to us to be able to honor their service and sacrifice,” he said.

Landon McGarth, a sophomore brother, expressed his deep respect for the FDNY, emphasizing their bravery and commitment in the face of tragedy.

The challenge served not only as a test of endurance but also as a solemn act of remembrance, ensuring that the heroism and sacrifice of 9/11 are never forgotten.
