Alumni & Professional Engagement Finds Home in Carver Hall

The Department of Alumni & Professional Engagement (A&PE) at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg (CU) is returning to campus after being housed on the third floor of the Greenly Center since 2019. Their new space is located on the first floor of Carver Hall.

“Carver Hall has always been a focal point of the Bloomsburg campus; through this move, we are making it the focal point of our students' career journeys, proving that our tradition is their roadmap,” said Dr. Lynda Michaels, Associate Vice President for Alumni & Professional Engagement. “We are thrilled to welcome students, alumni, and employers into a dedicated space designed to elevate career preparation and professional excellence.”

A&PE was created in 2014 by uniting the Center for Professional Development and Career Experience and the Office of Alumni Engagement, and is now situated within the Division of University Advancement. As a hub of the Professional U Career Community, the department acts as a resource and partner for students navigating the transition to the professional world, for parents and supporters seeking how best to guide their student, for faculty members interested in integrating career development into their academic expertise, for alumni looking to reconnect and give back, and for employers excited to recruit CU grads and provide experiential learning opportunities. 

“Our relocation to Carver Hall signifies an exciting opportunity to link student potential with alumni and industry leadership," said Michaels. “By centering our career community in this historic space—complete with the new President's Alumni Room—we are inviting alumni and employer partners to help shape the next generation of confident professionals.”

Alumni and Professional Engagement, in partnership with The Bloomsburg Alumni Association, preserves the life-changing experiences and relationships formed on campus while supporting volunteerism, advocacy, and philanthropy in support of the university’s mission and current student and alumni success.

“Carver Hall has always been the heart of our campus, and now it serves as a hub for engaging students with alumni mentorship, coaching, and career connections," said Michaels. “We are excited to connect nearly 200 years of alumni success directly into the daily student experience.”
