
Lethal Weapons Training Act 235
The Lethal Weapons Training Act 235 provides certification to privately employed agents to carry a lethal weapon. The Mansfield Public Safety Training Institute is an approved Lethal Weapons Training Act 235 facility.
A lethal weapon is any firearm, device, instrument, material, or any other substance that is capable of bringing about great bodily harm or death. The Lethal Weapons Training Act incorporates education and training as part of being a certified agent.
The Public Safety Training Institute currently offers the full 40 hour course and the recertification course of eight hours.
Who is the training for?
The lethal weapon training is designed for security guards, armored truck guards, alarm response guards, night watch guards, private investigators, and other privately employed professionals who are required to possess a lethal weapon.
Admissions Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Pass a physical examination by a medical doctor
- Uncorrected vision of at least 20/70 in one eye and 20/200 in the other
- Corrected vision of at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other
- Must have normal color and depth perception and be free of any other significant visual abnormalities
- Pass hearing examination (permitted to use hearing aid)
- Pass a psychological examination administered by a licensed psychologist
- No conviction of a disqualifying criminal offense as defined in 18 Pa.C.S. Section 6105
- No conviction of misdemeanor of the first degree or higher
- No conviction of a crime of violence
- No active protection from abuse orders
- No previous involuntary mental health commitments
Instructors
Instruction for the Lethal Weapon Training course is provided by current and retired municipal police, Pennsylvania State Police, and local county sheriffs.
