Hakeem Thomas '17

Hakeem Thomas brings over two decades of cybersecurity expertise to the alumni board, combining his distinguished military service background with deep technical leadership in information technology. A U.S. military veteran with specialized experience in signal communications, James has built a comprehensive career spanning NOC/SOC management, digital forensics, project management, and security awareness training.

As a proud Bloomsburg University alumnus, Hakeem earned both his B.A. in Criminal Justice and B.S. in Digital Forensics from the institution. He currently serves as Security Architecture Manager at Navy Federal Credit Union, where he leads the implementation of Zero Trust architecture initiatives.

Beyond his professional achievements, Hakeem demonstrates his commitment to the cybersecurity community through teaching, mentoring emerging professionals, and actively competing in Capture-the-Flag (CTF) competitions. He is dedicated to helping bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world cybersecurity challenges.
