Quest Adventure Summer Camps

We are the most active, outdoor, and adventure-oriented summer camps in the region! Each week we begin with team building on the first day (getting to know each other) with the remainder of the week featuring various activities. Weekly activities will include field games, our high ropes challenge course (featuring our ziplines, giant's ladder, and leap of faith), rafting, and kayaking. Other days we will split into two groups to take turns doing things like our low ropes team challenge course, hiking, and climbing on our NEW 70ft climbing tower. Activities throughout the week will be designed to improve on team skills and to make friendships to last a lifetime by doing new and intimidating adventures together, like facing fears of heights!

We are announcing our brand new, state of the art climbing tower! A tower like ours can only be found in a few places in the entire state of Pennsylvania. It features an impressive 70 foot construction with multiple climbing angles and difficulty levels to cater to everyone's unique challenge level! With over 10 paths to the top, there is even an integrated 70 foot Giant's Ladder for an added challenge for those looking for more! This is an amazing addition for all the kids to learn, grow, and adventure!

The Quest Adventure camp philosophy is to serve youth (ages 8-13 years old) by providing hands-on, engaging, and adventure-filled programming. Our activities are designed to help each camper become more independent, enhance self-confidence, develop self-awareness, to develop mind, and body in a fun and safe learning environment.

Camp Goals

  • Emphasize the teaching and learning of skills and activities
  • Teach and instill the concept of teamwork through planned activities
  • Create mutual respect for other people and their ideas, thoughts, and actions
  • Introduce campers to new activities
  • Teach campers the proper way to act during activities (i.e., good sportsmanship)
  • Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
  • De-emphasize competition and emphasize fun in activities
  • Provide positive role models for the children
Some highlights include:
  • Each week will have some unique aspects allowing for multiple weeks for the same child. Some activities also repeat such as our climbing wall and high ropes programs.
  • Each week a child comes to camp they will get a free camp t-shirt.
  • 30 camp spots available each week. On some days, the campers will be divided into two groups.
  • The groups will do some activities separately but will combine for some such as field games.
  • Camper to staff ratio, 5:1 is our goal.
  • Our goal is to keep camp sizes small and maximize instructor/camper interactions.
  • Activities such as rafting/kayaking, high ropes challenge course, low ropes course, zip lines, climbing wall, nature hikes, team development, field games, tie dyeing, and more!*

If your child tests positive for the COVID-19 virus, they will not be allowed to attend the Quest Summer Adventure Camps within 5 days of testing positive. No refunds are processed for illness.

Enrich your summer by working as a counselor at the Quest summer camps. We emphasize camper and counselor interaction giving you the unique opportunity to learn and work closely with kids. A great experience in learning how to work with kids, as well as a great resume booster! Must be 18 or older to apply.

  • Working for the Quest Summer Camps is a truly rewarding experience, with no experience needed!
  • Spend your summer days outside with kids aged 8-13! You will experience the joys of taking kids into nature hiking at Ricketts Glen, on the water using our rafts and kayaks for water day, and onto our high ropes adventure course where many fears are faced. You will have the opportunity to grow as a leader, how to work with kids, and to have fun doing it!
  • We are looking for individuals who are excited to work with kids that are willing to make the effort to give the campers the best experience we can offer! No experience in the backcountry is necessary as we will have ample time to train the skills needed for high ropes and anything else you need.
Job Expectations Include:
a

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
  • Be on time: like any job, punctuality is important as we use the hour before camps to make a plan and setup to be ready for the campers.
  • Having a positive attitude for the kids about weather, being outside, and daily activities will encourage them to follow your lead.
  • Be willing to be outside during camp hours (9-5pm) while in the sun or occasionally rain, we enjoy playing in light rain and so do the campers!
  • Be ready to be engaged and participating in games with the kids throughout the day on your feet
  • Be willing to collaborate with your team and communicate any disagreements, this makes the summer run smooth and overall more fun for everyone.
  • Be willing to stick to a plan, but be able to be flexible for when the weather or general timing requires us to change our plans.
  • Come to camp everyday prepared! This will always include lunch, water, a towel, and a change of clothes. We make a plan at the beginning of the week, but weather could change those plans so it is important to always be ready for any camp activity.
  • Most importantly, have fun with it! The campers are always having fun if you are.

We are pleased to offer the Leader in Training Program (LIT).  This will focus on leadership development, a critical skill for teens to grow in to.  Our main avenue for this will be their involvement in a leadership capacity in our programs with younger kids, the Quest Summer Adventure Camps 2025.  They will serve in assistant roles in our camp staff as volunteers.  This training is beneficial for the growth and development of teens in learning how to lead and taking on responsibility.  The LIT candidates will always be overseen by our camp staff. Training weekend will take place June 6th and 7th. Throughout the summer, we will provide 3 adventure experiences for LIT's outside of our regular camp activities. These will include rock climbing outdoors, caving, and white water rafting. Dates will be made known to LIT's during training weekend, as well as the parents. All gear and experience will be provided by Quest staff. See the following document for more details on the training weekend:

LIT Weekend Details and Program Plan

Quest has 10 leadership principles that we strive to focus on in all of our programs. As a leadership development program, these are the principles that define what we think is effective leadership. All of our programming is meant to educate on and reinforce these principles. Everyone will have strengths and weaknesses within this list. The goal of the Quest leadership model is to fine-tune and expand the strengths and improve the challenge areas specific to each person.

  1. Be Passionate
  2. Have a Servant Mentality
  3. Have a Big Picture Mentality
  4. Strive for Sound Judgment and Decision Making
  5. Be willing to question and be questioned
  6. Inspire Others to Act
  7. Have Solid Skills and Be Able to Teach Those Skills
  8. Act as a Facilitator of Knowledge
  9. Be a Mentor to Others
  10. Be a Model of Excellence

This program will be an application-based process and will be open to a very limited number of people.
