The Eileen G. Jones Honors College at Commonwealth University–Bloomsburg marked the close of the academic year with its Spring Reception in the Kehr Union Ballroom — an event that showcased the intellectual curiosity, creativity, and achievement that define the Honors experience.
Guests were welcomed into an atmosphere of conversation and connection as students presented the culmination of their Honors journeys through capstone projects that reflect months — and often years — of research, collaboration, and innovation.
The reception offered an opportunity not only to explore these projects, but also to engage directly with the student scholars behind them, highlighting the Honors College’s commitment to hands-on learning, inquiry, and mentorship.
Following opening remarks from Honors College leadership, the event turned toward a meaningful milestone: the recognition of graduating seniors. Each student honored represents the core values of the Eileen G. Jones Honors College — a dedication to academic excellence, a passion for discovery, and a drive to make a difference beyond the classroom.
With more than 40 capstone presenters spanning a wide range of disciplines, the event demonstrated the breadth of scholarship within the Honors community. From scientific research and data-driven analysis to creative and interdisciplinary work, each project underscored the program’s emphasis on critical thinking, original research, and real-world application—all guided by close faculty mentorship.
The celebration concluded as it began: with conversation, connection, and community. Faculty, families, and peers gathered to reflect on student achievements and the transformative Honors experience—one that prepares graduates not only for professional success, but for thoughtful leadership and lifelong learning.
