For three days in June, members of the Phi Mu Delta fraternity at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven attended the 2025 Thomas A. Murphy Leadership Academy, held at Refreshing Mountain Camp in Lancaster. The academy brought together numerous Phi Mu Delta chapters from across the nation for an intensive leadership conference featuring workshops, collaboration and recognition.

Workshops throughout the academy focused on a range of key topics including recruitment strategies, effective leadership development, policy enforcement and ways to uphold the fraternity's core values of brotherhood, democracy and service.

Over the last academic year, the Phi Mu Delta chapter at CU-Lock Haven tripled its membership. The chapter participated in events such as game nights, movie nights, yard games on the commons and group dinners - many of which served as informal recruitment opportunities. They also took part in Unity Day Fest, Campus Craze and Haven Activities Council Bingo nights. In recognition of these achievements, the chapter was honored with the Outstanding Chapter Growth Award at the leadership academy.

In addition, the chapter earned the Outstanding Chapter Programming Award for its excellence in organizing impactful events focused on philanthropy, service and internal brotherhood development. These programs have both strengthened the chapter and positively contributed to the campus community.

The academy also featured a volleyball tournament where brother Ethan Hardyk captained the winning team, returning home with a trophy signed by his teammates.
