Megan King, Ph.D.
“Unexpected Learning Experiences from Lock Haven to London” 

Dr. Megan King is an early-career researcher specializing in practices of nonviolent resistance in pre-Revolutionary America. A 2011 graduate of LHU in International Studies major (with minors in German, Political Science, and History), she completed her master's degree and doctorate in the UK, and she has settled in the Southeast of England with her husband and their dog. Megan is the Front of House Manager at Benjamin Franklin House in London, and she also serves as the project coordinator for the Age of Revolution educational legacy project based at the University of Kent. She also volunteers remotely to assist with social media marketing for Indian Steps Museum, a nonprofit organization located in southern York County, which houses a collection of over 10,000 Susquehannock artifacts.

John Elmore

“How My Multi-Disciplinary Education Prepared Me for an Incredible Career as a Trial Lawyer”

A 1979 criminal justice graduate of Mansfield University, John was a varsity track team captain, served as a Resident Assistant, and participated in the Criminal Justice Club and the Black Student Union. After graduation, he became a New York state trooper for two years before entering law school. He received his law degree from Syracuse University in 1984.  

John is the founder of The Law Office of John V. Elmore P.C., the only African-American-owned personal injury law firm in the city of Buffalo, NY. He has served as a trial attorney with nearly 40 years of civil and criminal trial experience in State and Federal Courts, specializing in personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home neglect, wrongful death, auto accidents, and criminal defense. He is the author of Fighting for Your Life: The African American Criminal Justice Survival Guide, and was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo and Governor Kathy Hochul to serve on the New York State Judicial Screening Committee, which evaluates potential candidates for judgeships.

Charlie Norwood

“A Wild Ride: My 8-Year Journey to Becoming a Dual Officer” 

Officer Charlie Norwood currently works as a police officer for the Caln Township Police Department. He also serves as an Executive Officer (1st Lieutenant) for the Pennsylvania National Guard. He received his Associate’s Degree in Security Studies from Valley Forge Military College in 2021 and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from CU-Bloomsburg in 2022.
