Courses and Curriculum

European Studies Minor Requirements

  • 18 credits required for minor completion
  • Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use Degree Works to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the minor.  

Minor Requirements

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Analyze major historical developments and political transformations in Europe within their cultural, social, and transnational contexts.
  • Interpret literary, artistic, and cultural texts from European traditions using appropriate disciplinary methodologies.
  • Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in a non-English European language through written and oral communication in academic and cultural contexts.
  • Evaluate the role of Europe in global affairs by applying comparative and interdisciplinary frameworks.
  • Synthesize perspectives from history, politics, language, and cultural studies in research-based projects focused on European issues.
