Bloomsburg's education program prepared me to be the teacher I aspire to be by ensuring experience in the classroom from freshman year through senior year. It's been incredibly beneficial to observe and participate in various classroom settings over the years as well as learn 'behind the scenes' tips from these amazing educators.

The most impactful experience I have had since starting the Health and Physical Education program was getting to go out into local schools and observing gym classes and seeing how much you can truly impact students as a teacher. Watching their faces light up as they enter the gym and seeing how motivated students are to participate when you create a good environment is one of the most impactful experiences a person can possibly have.

  • CAEP Accredited Education Programs:
    • lead to teacher certification approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
    • are taught by faculty — not graduate assistants — with extensive experience in PK-12 schools as teachers, supervisors, principals, curriculum directors, and superintendents
    • include specialized training in non-academic barriers (social, emotional and mental health, suicide prevention) through the McDowell Institute for Teacher Excellence
    • allow for dual certification, English as a Second Language (ESL) Certificate and STEM Endorsement for enhanced marketability
    • include field experiences beginning in the first year culminating with a 16-week supervised student teaching experience
    • both the child life minor and the child life certificate programs meet the Association of Child Life Professionals curriculum standards and eligibility requirements necessary to obtain the certified child life specialist credential

Our ASL program has been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Interpreter Education, which was founded in 2006 to promote professionalism in the field of sign language interpreter education.
