Executive Overview

This summer, Bloomsburg campus is modernizing its door lock systems across residence halls and selected academic and administrative buildings. Outdated offline Onity locks are being replaced with new IN120 Wi-Fi enabled tap-reader locks, bringing improved security, faster support, and a better experience for students and staff.

Timeline & What to Expect 

  • Installation takes place throughout the early Summer – from May – mid-July, 2026, scheduled to minimize disruptions to summer sessions, camps, and orientations.
  • During installation, some doors may be temporarily offline while hardware is replaced. When this happens:
    • Temporary signage will be posted at affected doors.
    • Alternate entry points will be available.
    • Impacted building occupants will be notified in advance.
  • Testing & go-live — All locks will be tested for proper connectivity before fall occupancy begins. IT will monitor the system closely during the initial weeks.

No. Your current ID card will work with the new readers.

Not at launch, but the new locks are designed to support mobile credentials in the future. This upgrade is the first step toward that future capability.

The locks maintain basic offline access functionality. Once connectivity is restored, they automatically sync and update.

No. All locks will be installed and tested before fall occupancy begins.

Yes. RAs will receive updated guidance before move-in to help residents use the new system and identify basic issues.

Public Safety and Facilities Management will continue to provide after-hours assistance. The new system gives them better real-time door status information, so they can respond faster.

Residence hall and upper campus apartment staff can assign and remove access for residents on evenings and weekends. Students can also contact the Card Center or Helpdesk at any time.
