Resident Assistant Position

General Information

The overall goal of a Resident Assistant is to serve as a peer educator and helper while facilitating the personal and academic growth and development of residential students. RAs are chosen on the basis of leadership experiences, interpersonal skills, interest in working with students to develop a positive floor/hall/apartment community, and willingness to be actively involved in their own personal growth and development. RAs are expected to live out the Core Values of the Office of Housing and Residence Life: Service, Caring, Respect, Dedication, Integrity, Inclusion and Education.

    • Apartment RAs work front desk daytime shifts

  • Generally available to residents
  • Room fee waived
    • Residence Hall-single occupancy, Suites/Apartments - single bedrooms
    • Apartments include a utility fee waiver
  • Stipend of $12/hour for 14/hours per week

What we are looking for

 You must meet these requirements in order to be considered for the position

  • Current undergraduate, degree-seeking student who will remain an undergraduate student during the full academic year (2026-2027).
  • Good Academic Standing with at least a 2.40 cumulative GPA (at the time of hiring).
  • Good Judicial Standing (no current disciplinary sanctions)
  • Available for the full academic year (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027)
    • Ineligible if doing any of the following during the 2026-2027 year
      • Student teaching
      • Studying abroad
      • Internship (more than 6 credits)
      • Graduating in Dec ‘26
      • Transferring in Jan '27
      • Moving off campus in Jan ‘27
  • All successful candidates must complete a full background check.
  • Students who are RAs can hold another work-study position. Just note that their hours between the RA position (14) and the secondary position cannot exceed 20 hours/week.

While it is not a requirement, we highly encourage you to

  • Have experience living on campus
  • Be actively engaged on campus

* Note for Decision & Placement Notifications:
In regards to decision notifications, you will be notified of whether you got the RA job, got an offer to be an alternate RA, or are not being offered the job at this time. If you are offered the RA job or an alternate RA position, you will be given a deadline to accept your offer. Placement of the staff/housing assignments will be determined after folks accept/decline the position. This placement will go out prior to Team Building Day.
