The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven Outreach for Humanity Club and the Office of Community Service recently held its annual Hunger Bowl event throughout the month of October.

The event supports the Haven Cupboard, Lock Haven's campus food pantry, which supports students facing food insecurity. The Hunger Bowl is a campus-wide competition to see what group can collect the most non-perishable food items in October. Students, faculty and staff work tirelessly all month to gather items for the Haven Cupboard.

This year a total of nine student clubs and organizations and three faculty and staff groups participated in the competition. Those groups gathered 5,952 items to support students utilizing the Cupboard. Since 2018, the number of items donated this year was a record.

The first place group was Smith Hall and second place winners were Fairview Suites. Both groups will receive a monetary donation to their club account. The winning faculty group was from Stevenson Library, "No Limits." They will receive a free lunch sponsored by the Office of the President.
