Bob Batory ‘79 wasn’t immediately sure about the path he wanted to take as a Business Administration Major, but a professor helped him clarify a direction that Batory found fulfilling.  Now retired, Batory decided it was time to thank that professor after a 43 year career in Human Resources Leadership by mentoring to someone else.

“The most valuable lesson I've learned is to search for the ‘Ultimate Trifecta’,” said Batory. “Find a career path that you're really good at, that you're passionate about, and provides you with what's really important to you.”

Batory responded to an email asking for volunteers for the William ’83 and Elizabeth Bent Leadership Boot Camp and recently began his second year as an alumni mentor. He has found the students to be engaging and the program to be organized in such a way to maximize the time that mentor and mentee spend together.

“I believe strongly in giving back to our next generation of leaders,” said Batory. “I had great mentors at Bloomsburg during my time there as a student and want to help our current students to succeed in their professional lives.”

Batory’s advice to other alumni?

“Get involved ... you'll be glad you did!”
