Welcome to the Office of Teacher Preparation, Clinical Practice, and Certification at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania.
The Office of Teacher Preparation, Clinical Practice, and Certification (OTPCPC) works to support students through the Teacher Candidacy process, obtaining clearances and facilitating field experience placements. As a Commonwealth University student, the OTPCP works to prepare students for the skills and knowledge they need to meet certification requirements and provide resources to support the next generation of educators.
Obtaining Clearance Documents
Commonwealth University requires students who are enrolled in field and clinical experience courses to obtain and upload clearance documents to the CU Clearance Database, in addition to providing clearances to the schools they enter. Please review the resources provided to assist in obtaining and uploading your clearance documents.
The annual clearance renewal window is June 1-June 30 for all students who plan to enroll in a course containing a field experience. An updated student guide will be available prior to the start of each academic year and will be located in the Teacher Education Program Brightspace Course. Student log in is required. (ex. available in Summer 2026 for the Fall semester).
