Pathway Toward a Degree

The Human Creativity and Diversity Certificate is one of three certificates directly connected to Commonwealth University’s general education requirements, along with Academic Foundations and Critical and Scientific Reasoning. Completion of all three certificates, plus 15 additional elective credits in the arts, humanities, and social or behavioral science fields, leads to an Associate of Arts in General Studies. Together, these certificates create manageable academic goals for adult, working, and returning learners, as well as traditional college students and dual‑enrollment high school students.

Courses and Curriculum

Human Creativity and Diversity Certificate Requirements

  • 15 - 17 credits required for certificate completion
  • Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use Degree Works to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the certificate.

Certificate Requirements

  Certificate Progress: Enrolled students can review program requirements and track progress toward certificate completion using the university’s degree audit and advising tool, Degree Works.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  2. Describe and respond to works in the arts.
  3. Reflect on the diversity of human experience.
