The National Communication Association Student Club (NCASC) will hold Communication Day on Wednesday, March 12, in the Kehr Union Multipurpose Rooms A & B. This year’s theme is “Future Innovation in Communication.”
Presentations will run throughout the day, including:
- “Future Proofing Your Career in the Age of AI” from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Multipurpose Room A, presented by Dr. Dennis Frohlich, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism.
- “Using Motivational Interviewing (MI) to Improve Communication in Wellness Coaching and Beyond” from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Multipurpose Room B, presented by Kristi Hammaker and Meghan Malloy, Department of Student Well-Being and Health Promotion.
- “Communication for the Future: Climate Comm in the Great Acceleration” from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Multipurpose Room A, presented by Dr. Eric Miller, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism.
- “Basics of Investing” from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Multipurpose Room B, presented by Dr. James Petre, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism.
- “Software and Hard Coal: Anthracite Heritage in Digital Contexts” from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Multipurpose Room A, presented by Dr. David Heineman, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism.
- “The Joys and Pain of Communication in Public Higher Education” from 11 a.m. to noon in Multipurpose Room A, presented by Dr. Eric Hawrelak, Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Engineering, Geography, Geology, and Physics.
- “How Companies are Using AI to Hire You” from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. in Multipurpose Room B, presented by Dr. Constance Reece, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism.
- “Fostering Success with Communication Studies Students” from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Multipurpose Room A, presented by Lambda Pi Eta Executive Board, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism.
- “Elevator Pitches” from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Multipurpose Room B, presented by Dr. Elizabeth Petre, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism.
- “Queen or Pawn of the Right-To-Die Movement: A Scoping Review of Brittany Maynard” from 3 p.m. 3:30 p.m. in Multipurpose Room A, presented by Dr. Paula Hopeck and Dr, Robert Green, Department of Communication Studies, Media and Journalism
- “Misinformation in Journalism” from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Multipurpose Room B, presented by Mr. Tim Pelton, Department of Community Engagement.
