Sports Information (Minor)

The Sports Information minor prepares students to coordinate communication between athletic departments, student-athletes, and coaches as well as disseminate information to the news media and general public.

Students take courses in public relations, media production, and emergent media. Sports information professionals write a variety of communication material, produce audio/video segments, coordinate interviews with the media, compile statistics, and update social media/digital communication.

Courses and Curriculum

Students who complete the Sports Information minor will be able to:

  1. Develop strategic communication messaging and material to target specific audiences and media.
  2. Write and produce a variety of communication deliverables such as promotional material, audio/video segments, interviews, and social media/digital communication.
  3. Identify methods to effectively disseminate information to organizations, media, and the public.
